Lincoln Park, Chicago / No. 01
Installation + Craft & detail
Parquet, pattern & a remarkable stair.

The brief, in detail
Working alongside builders and designers, Ace brought several distinct flooring ideas together in this Lincoln Park townhouse. The kitchen’s hexagonal parquet and the bedroom’s white-oak pattern each have their own rhythm. The stair detailing connects the spaces.

Beyond the photograph
The kitchen floor uses a prefinished hexagonal parquet. Its geometry gives the room an unmistakable identity, right down to the edges and transitions.
Unfinished and partly preassembled white-oak parquet was finished on site in the bedroom. The material and pattern were considered as part of the room, not as an afterthought.
The published project record describes ebonized handrails and treads wire-brushed on site. The result is a staircase that belongs to the wider architectural story.
